Kanchi Shankar Veda Vidyalay had begun by Sri Jayendra Saraswati Shankaracharya Swamigal, the 69th Peetadhipathi of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam in 1997. It has been functioning for the past 28 years. The vidyarthis are taught Shukla Yajur Veda Madhyandika Shakha.

The students are also taught various bhakti stotrams, bhajans, kirtans as well as Tulsidas Ramcharitmanas, Durga Shaptashati, etc.

Over 1000 vidyarthis from Gonda, Basti, Balrampur, Ayodhya, etc in total have studied in the patasala. The current batch as of May 2025 consists of 21 Vidyarthis and 1 Adhyapak.

Ashok Sastry Vaidik is the Adhyapak of the Patasala. His family are Maharashtrian Brahmins settled in Ayodhya. He is the 5th generation from his family to be settled in Ayodhya
